Return & Refund Policy

Last updated: June 1, 2026

Policy summary

  • Returns: MarketHub is a buyer-to-seller marketplace and does not itself process returns or refunds. Returns are arranged directly with the seller, at the seller's discretion.
  • Exchanges: Arranged directly with the seller, at the seller's discretion.
  • Defective or not-as-described items: Contact the seller first; if unresolved, report the listing in-app or email support@markethubafrica.com. We respond to disputes within 48 hours and act on fraud and policy breaches. Your statutory consumer rights against the seller are unaffected.
  • Paid MarketHub services (e.g. listing boosts): refundable if we failed to deliver due to an error on our side.

1. How MarketHub works

MarketHub Buy & Sell is a marketplace that connects buyers and sellers directly. We are a venue, not a retailer: we do not own, stock, ship, or take possession of the items listed, and we do not process payments between buyers and sellers. Each sale is a direct agreement between the buyer and the individual seller. This shapes how returns, refunds, and exchanges work — see below.

2. Returns & refunds

Because MarketHub does not sell the items or handle payment, MarketHub itself does not process returns or issue refunds for purchases made between users. Whether a return or refund is offered is at the individual seller's discretionand is arranged directly between the buyer and that seller, in line with any consumer-protection rights that apply in the buyer's country (in South Africa, the Consumer Protection Act may grant statutory rights against the seller — see section 5).

We strongly recommend buyers agree returns terms with the seller before paying, and — for in-person deals — inspect the item and confirm it matches the listing before handing over any money.

3. Defective, damaged, or misrepresented items

If an item is defective, damaged, or materially different from its listing, contact the seller first to request a repair, replacement, exchange, or refund. If the seller is unresponsive or the listing appears fraudulent or deliberately misleading, use the "Report" button on the listing or email us (section 6). We review every report and can remove listings, warn, or ban sellers who breach our Terms of Service.

4. Exchanges

Exchanges, like returns, are arranged directly between the buyer and the seller and are offered at the seller's discretion. MarketHub does not facilitate or guarantee exchanges.

5. Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have against a seller under the law of your country. Where a seller is acting in the course of business, those laws (such as South Africa's Consumer Protection Act) may give you rights to a refund, replacement, or repair for goods that are defective or not as described, directly enforceable against that seller.

6. Reporting a problem & dispute help

If you can't resolve an issue with a seller, we're here to help mediate. Report the listing in-app, or email support@markethubafrica.com with the listing link and details. We aim to respond to refund and dispute queries within 48 hours. While we cannot force a refund on an off-platform transaction, we act on fraud and policy breaches and can remove bad actors from the marketplace.

7. Paid MarketHub services

For paid services we sell directly (such as listing boosts or featured slots), a refund is available if the service could not be delivered due to an error on our side. Email support@markethubafrica.com and we'll review it case by case.
