Seller Policies

The rules every MarketHub seller agrees to follow. We enforce these consistently across all 23 markets to keep the marketplace safe, trusted, and useful for buyers.

What You Can Sell

  • Genuine new, used, or refurbished products in any of MarketHub's active categories.
  • Items you legally own and have the right to sell — your own items, or items you have explicit reseller authorisation for.
  • Services you can reliably provide (cleaning, tutoring, repairs, transport, photography, etc.).
  • Real-estate listings backed by accurate documentation (title deed, lease agreement, agency authorisation).

What's Prohibited

  • Counterfeit goods, stolen items, or anything violating intellectual-property rights.
  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, knives marketed as weapons.
  • Recreational drugs, prescription medication without authorisation, tobacco/alcohol to minors.
  • Live animals for sale (except verified adoption listings cleared with the admin team), human remains, body parts.
  • Adult content, sexual services, or anything sexualising minors.
  • Items requiring a licence you don't hold (regulated electronics, pharmaceuticals, certain professional services).
  • Hate speech, discriminatory content, or items promoting violence against any group.

Listing Honesty

  • Photos must show the actual item being sold — not stock photos, unless explicitly labelled and the buyer agrees.
  • Condition (new / used / refurbished) must accurately reflect the item.
  • Price must be the price you'll accept — no "starting at" bait pricing, no hidden surcharges revealed after agreement.
  • Specifications, dimensions, and included accessories must match reality.
  • If a sale price is shown with a strike-through original, the original must be a real prior price (see Flash Sales policy).

Communication & Conduct

  • Reply to all messages within 48 hours during business days. Repeat non-response leads to lowered search ranking.
  • Use MarketHub Messages — never push buyers to WhatsApp, email, or off-platform payment before agreeing terms.
  • No harassment, hate speech, or discrimination toward buyers or other sellers — by message, review, or report.
  • Disputes are resolved through MarketHub Support — do not threaten buyers, leave retaliatory reviews, or share their personal info publicly.

Enforcement

  • Reports are reviewed by the moderation team within 24 hours.
  • Violations can result in: written warning, listing removal, verified-seller badge revoked, account suspension, or permanent ban.
  • Repeat offences escalate faster than first-time violations.
  • You can appeal any moderation decision by emailing support@markethubafrica.com with your account email and the listing ID.
